We really liked the Samsung 980 Pro solid state drive when it released late last year, and it's still one of our favorite drives. We even shared a deal on the 2TB version when it dropped in price earlier this month, and that deal price hasn't expired yet if you're looking for a high-capacity drive. Of course, in the world of SSDs, more capacity means a huge jump in price. If you can't afford that, the smaller but still super speedy 250GB 980 Pro is now on sale as well for a low of $79.99 at Amazon. That's $10 off its regular price and within just a few bucks of the lowest price we've ever seen.

Get read and write speeds up to 7,000 MB/s and 5,100 MB/s respectively. That's crazy fast thanks to the NVMe tech and the PCIe 4.0 interface. For the truly tech savvy. Works with laptops and desktops. All capacities are on sale.

Read all about the Samsung 980 Pro in our review where we gave it 4 stars out of 5 and a Recommended badge. The reviewer, Richard Devine, said Samsung's 980 Pro "continues the company's tradition of blistering performance, quality, and a fair price."

This SSD uses both the PCIe 4.0 interface and NVMe technology and as a result you get some of Samsung's fastest speeds ever in a solid state drive, which is saying something considering most of these drives are already pretty dang fast. The 980 Pro gets read and write speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and 5,100 MB/s respectively. That's so fast. Just compare it to something like the 970 Evo Plus which featured breakneck speeds of its own when it released just a couple years ago. The 980 Pro is more than twice as fast! You'll also get twice the data transfer speeds of a PCIe 3.0 interface,, although if that's the one you have it will still work with that version (just not as fast).

If you're just a casual computer user, you probably don't need this much horsepower under the hood. That's why they put the word Pro on there. If you're tech savvy or use your computer for a lot of heavy activities like video editing or hardcore gaming, then you probably want this for its really high performance and throughput for heavy application use. It also has reliable thermal control with nickel coating so you don't have to worry about heating up your system.
