Gearbox Software is no stranger to rereleases of Borderlands games, having brought Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to Xbox One and other platforms as part of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection in 2015. However, the company didn't stop there, because it just announced a Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for consoles.
Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition wasn't a surprise because the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) , the group that is responsible for rating games in America and other regions, recently posted a new rating for the title. For those unfamiliar with the game, Borderlands is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a Vault Hunter on a quest to uncover an alien vault on the planet of Pandora. Players explore an open-world environment and interact with characters, while completing mission objectives. Combat missions require players to use futuristic firearms to kill human bandits, alien creatures, and robotic sentries.
Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is launches on April 3, but it's available for preorder right now exclusively at GameStop for $30. The package includes all of the add-ons so you don't have to purchase a season pass. Don't worry, it'll still get a digital release on the day. It's unfortunate that a major title is only available at one retailer when it comes to physical copies.
The game also supports Xbox One X, because it features 4K resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) lighting support. Just like Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, the title is expected to run at 60 frames per second (FPS), too. We'll keep you posted as soon as we receive confirmation.
